After wedding session at Karekare beach, New Zealand
When Nicole contacted us back in January, she told us that she’s a wedding photographer herself and that she’d love to have some pictures taken. I got super excited reading this because how awesome is it to have the honour to take pictures of a colleague and her husband at the other side of the world!?
I aimed for finding the most perfect place for this shoot. I took my car to drive to the west coast, crossing the amazing Waikatere ranges when my intuition took me to Karekare beach. Driving down a really narrow, windy road to the village I was really happy that there was no oncoming car in sight. I parked my car and my heart stopped for a bit looking at this insane beach. The rough, vulcanic landscape met a wide black sand beach like I’ve never seen it before. Strolling around and taking pictures I’ve met people who told me that this spot is famous because the film “The Piano” was taken there. But even before knowing this fact, I had already been fallen in love and decided to take the pictures here the upcoming day.
The next afternoon we took some pretty relaxed couple pictures before Nicole was ready to jump in her wedding dress again, just right before sunset. I was super thankful (and still am!) that she was so relaxed running with her dress into the sea. Chances are quite high that you’ll never wear it again after the wedding day, so why not wearing it again for something wild and beautiful?
