Maternity session at Piha beach, New Zealand
About the coincedence in life …
It was one of those amazing mornings in New Zealand. The sky was blue and the air was full of summervibes.
I packed my bag to drive from Mangawhai at the eastcoast to discover Piha beach at the westcoast. It's a well known black sand beach of volcanic origin. My way down there was a bit of an adventure being accustomed driving on the right side of the road and now switching to the left side, but finally arriving there was one of the most beautiful moments of my journey. It’s a windy road down to Piha but the view is just stunning and I had a hard time focussing on driving. Seeing the waves roll onto the black shore made me smile like a little child.
I spent the day at the beach reading a book, went for a swim and took a long walk. During my walk I found so many beautiful places and decided that I wanted to take pictures right there and now. That’s how I met Drew and Scott. I saw them walking at the beach taking pictures and thought to myself that I should just give it a try and ask them if they’d like to participate in a little maternity session.
Long story short: we had an amzazing time at the beach together before the sun set and took some beautiful pictures. Drew was 7 months pregnant and it was their last holiday as a couple before they would become a little family. Most impressing to me was that they were originally from the other end of the world. Drew is from Vancouver and Scott from America but both met in Australia and decided to spend their lifes together there.
I love the thought so much that you can find love on the other side of the world and can feel home wherever it feels right for you…
